New Year, New Goals

New Year, New Goals

Dharma, a Sanskrit word that captures our desire to live a life of purpose, and evolve to our full potential.  We all have a natural desire to discover our gifts and give back to the world in a unique way.

Discover Your Dharma – to Reveal your Karma.

In yoga, the practice of self reflection helps us to become aware of our inner strengths, and apply focus where needed.  The asanas physically model the process, while our minds find rest with mindfulness and meditation.

By practising consistently, we are able to find clarity in our minds and recognize what feels right in our hearts.  Coupled with contemplation, we can find our path, discover our gifts and share our talents with others – evolving as we add layers of new achievements throughout our lives.

At the end of each year, I like to take time to review what is important to me, and what my goals are going forward, with questions such as:

  • What is most important to me?
  • Which pastimes are filling me with joy?
  • How do I most enjoy spending my day?
  • What drags me down?
  • Who do I enjoy working with?
  • What do I value most in life?
  • What am I really great at?
  • What could I try to improve?

It really helps to step back from our everyday lives, to review what we have accomplished and plan our future goals.  An annual tradition of taking time to reset our goals can give us the chance to let go of the old that is no longer serving us, make changes to our plans and prepare a plan for what is to come.

Taking a longer break, a retreat can provide a means of  purposeful travel that allows us to step outside our ourselves in new surrounding Led by an experienced facilitator they can offer life changing experiences, challenge our boundaries and connect with other like minded individuals.

In the spirit of Dharma, retreats can include the promise of self discovery, as well as occasions for giving and sharing with others.
